Senior Mechanical Engineer - USA National Oilwell Varco - Houston, TX, US

Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure all mechanical deliverables are in accordance with client requirements.
• Ensure timely and thorough review of client specifications and communication of findings.
• Chair internal design review meetings.
• Be fully aware of personal workload in order to plan, organize and prioritize workload to ensure all deadlines are achieved.
• Ensure that internal checking and approvals procedures are adhered to.
• Ensuring document numbering and revision control procedure is conformed to.
• Preparation and checking of Technical Requisition document for any subcontracted or sub-vended engineering scope.
• Preparation and checking of Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification (ASME, PED etc.).
• Reviewing and recommending Subcontract/Sub-vendor quotes.
• Review and respond to client comments to mechanical documents.
• Reporting any design changes which may have a cost or schedule impact to the relevant Project Team, Mechanical Engineering Manager & Operation Manager.
• Attend and participate in client meetings ensuring customer care is at the foremost position.
• Investigate, resolve and document Engineering Queries in a timely and technically acceptable fashion.
• Contribute to the development of systems and improvement in working practices and processes.
• Contribute to induction training.
• Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained and that customer care is at the forefront.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department.
• Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy.
• Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times.
• Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.
• Travel required as dictated by project needs.

Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline required, Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain within 6months preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years detailed design experience with Pressure Vessels, Piping, and Structural as it relates to Oil and Gas Processing Equipment required. 10 years of experience preferred. Experience with large offshore module based equipment preferred.
• Working knowledge of Oil and Gas Process Equipment Technology
Skills, training or special knowledge
• Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Working knowledge of pressure vessel, piping, structural and related design codes (ASME, ASCE, API, NACE, NORSOK, PED, etc.).
• Ability to handle routine calculations and be responsible for the generation and validation of Code calculations for equipment sizing, ensuring that the equipment is designed appropriately using sound engineering practice balanced with good economic sense.
• Participating & chairing meetings and design review sessions, ensuring design compliance with client specifications and company standards.
• Understanding of engineering documents and drawings, and ability to assist with checking of Construction Documents for quality, accuracy, and constructability prior to submission to shop for fabrication.
• Have an understanding of common place industry materials and their application
• Have the ability to take projects from conceptual napkin sketch all the way through to start-up, commissioning, and possible operational troubleshooting of packaged equipment.
• Ability to assist with the generation of reports for certification, testing, operation and troubleshooting of team generated equipment.
